Sections/Lines Supervisors

Welcome to the user guide designed specifically for Production Supervisors in the garment manufacturing industry using our Garment IO Platform. This guide provides detailed instructions on how to effectively manage production processes, monitor employee performance, and ensure the smooth operation of your factory section.

Overview of Role and Responsibilities

As a Production Supervisor in the garment manufacturing industry, your primary responsibilities include:
  • Monitoring employee performance and addressing inefficiencies.
  • Managing production orders and ensuring processes are assigned correctly.
  • Tracking the status of batches and mitigating delays.
  • Ensuring quality standards are met and addressing any issues promptly.
  • Utilizing real-time data to make informed decisions and improve production flow.

Getting Started with the Platform

Before diving into specific tasks, familiarize yourself with the basic navigation and features of the platform. Log in with your credentials, and spend some time exploring the platform, menu options, and settings.

Main Concepts

To efficiently use our platform, it is crucial to understand several key concepts:

Operational Tasks

  1. Assign the correct orders and processes on each machine before workers start operating
  2. Identify batches that have been in the section for more than 3 days without progress and take necessary actions to move them forward by knowing the root cause and ending the missing processes.
  3. Respond to open and ended idle requests. All requests must be either accepted or rejected, idle requests should not be left behind in open or pending statuses.

Monitoring Tasks

Hourly Tasks

  1. Monitor the section performance in supervisor app and identify unutilized employees and address idle requests. Ensure quality issues do not exceed client standards.
  2. Monitor the status of batches (in-feeding, done, in-progress) inside each order and section in batches page and address any missing processes by knowing more info about the batch/batch group in their history page.
  3. Pinpoint bottleneck processes in real-time and take actions to resolve them so they wont hinder reaching the daily target. This also. ensure the section is balanced and no process is overloaded.
  4. Monitor the hourly throughput of each process, employee, and style in hourly basis to maintain a balanced line.
  5. Review section/lines performance cards to gather all related info and to determine if an overtime shift is required to meet the target to notify the management team and workers early.
  6. Check pieces ready for production on each process inside the section to pinpoint bottleneck processes and take actions accordingly. Supervisors can know the exact real time pieces ready on each process using the WIP report

Daily Tasks

  1. Check yesterday's employees wasted time and warn late employees.
  2. Check yesterday's workers efficiency and motivate employees to increase their efficiencies and determine if additional training is needed.
  3. Assess the number of pieces under the target by checking the remaining pieces in the processes page and take actions accordingly for the next day to ensure production target is met.
  4. Identify pieces still in repair and take immediate action the next day to avoid extended delays.
  5. Evaluate section/line throughput with order details and plan how to increase it the next day.

Weekly Tasks

  1. Assess improvements or declines in wasted durations in weekly basis using wasted duration report.
  2. Know upcoming orders and determine if training is required for new styles and processes from the Gantt Chart plan.
  3. Identify common idle reasons and work on reducing idle time.
  4. Pinpoint common machine issues and collaborate with the maintenance team to minimize downtime.
  5. Evaluate collective metrics and determine if employees are overperforming or underperforming using the employee score card.

Monthly Tasks

  1. Assess overall performance metrics for the month to identify top and underperforming employees using the employees efficiency page that shows all necessary information.
  2. Compare actual performance against the plan on the Gantt chart and make decisions to ensure future orders meet planned targets.
