Adding users with different access levels and authentication options is a fundamental aspect of the system. This chapter will guide you through the process of adding users, including the option to use RFID tags for login and the guidelines for creating strong passwords.
Accessing the Users Page
To access the Users page, simply follow these steps from the Main Menu: System Settings > Users.
Adding a New User
To add a new user, click on the "+" (Add) button. Enter the user's first name and last name in the designated fields. Provide the user's email and create a password for them to use when logging into the system.
Password Guidelines
To ensure the security of user accounts, passwords should adhere to the following guidelines:
Have a minimum length of 8 characters.
Include at least one special character.
Contain at least one English or Arabic alphabet character.
Include at least one number.
Selecting User Roles
Choose the appropriate user role for the added user, specifying their permissions and access levels within the system. This ensures that users have the appropriate level of access based on their responsibilities.
You can check this link to know how to manage different roles inside the factory
Defining appropriate scope for users
User access within the system should be tailored to match individual roles and responsibilities. For instance, factory managers typically require visibility across all production lines and sections, whereas a line supervisor may only need access to information pertaining to their specific line. Therefore, it's crucial to configure the user settings to define the appropriate access scope for each user. Let's explore the various access scopes available within the company:
Company Scope: This level grants users the ability to view data from all factories within the company, which is ideal for individuals who oversee multiple factory operations.
Factory Name: When a user is assigned to a single factory within a company, this scope allows them to view all production lines and sections within that particular factory. It's important to note that this restricts their access to data from other factories.
Production Line: This scope is more granular, restricting the user's data access to a specific production line. Users with this access cannot view information from any unassigned lines.
Production Section: The most restrictive scope, this allows users to access data from particular sections only, even if other sections fall under the same production line they are working on. Mostly used for maintenance supervisors who are responsible for fixing machines inside a certain section, thus, they are only notified on their mobile devices for machines that stopped working inside the selected section only.
Users will select their scope via the line selector interface. If a line or section has not been allocated to their access scope, it will not be displayed in the line selector, thus preventing the user from accessing information beyond their authorized scope.
Modifying or Deleting Users
Users with the necessary permissions can modify or delete existing users directly from the Users page. This provides efficient user management capabilities, allowing you to update user information or remove users as required.
Adding User Card
RFID tags provide a quick login method for certain users, like quality supervisors or maintenance personnel, due to the fact that they are already using Garment IO devices and tablets that are equipped with RFID readers
Maintenance Supervisors must have RFID cards associated to them because they must scan their card on Garment IO device when inspecting machine breakdowns. See this link for more info.
How to Add RFID Tags to Users?
On the Users page, click on the "There is no Card" link in the table next to the user.
Scan the new RFID tag card using the RFID reader connected to your PC.
Alternatively, manually input the RFID number (error-prone, not recommended).
Hand over the card to the user, ensuring they understand it is personal and tied to their actions within the system.
By adding users to the system with secure authentication methods and enforcing the use of strong passwords, you can safeguard access to Garment IO and protect sensitive data. The flexibility to utilize RFID tags for login and the ability to modify or delete users provide convenient administration and customization options for effective user management within the system.
