Roles Management

Roles Management

User roles and permissions play a crucial role in granting access and defining capabilities within the system. In this chapter, we will walk you through the process of creating user roles and adding users to your Garment IO account, empowering you to efficiently manage user access and responsibilities.

Accessing the User Roles Page

To access the User Roles page, simply follow these steps from the Main menu: Configurations > System Configuration  > Roles.

On this page, you will encounter two types of roles; Standard Roles and Company Roles.

1. Standard Roles

Standard roles are pre-defined roles carefully crafted by Garment IO to align with common roles found in garment manufacturing factories. Please note that standard roles cannot be modified. However, you have the flexibility to create a copy of a standard role and customize it to suit your specific requirements as a new Company Role.

2. Company Roles

Company roles are roles that can be designed and added by your factory itself, giving you complete control over user permissions and access levels. To create a new role, simply click on the "+" (Add) button. Provide a name for the role and, if desired, a brief description. Next, select the permissions for each role in the system, tailoring them to align with the responsibilities of the respective user. Choose the home page for the role, which will be the page displayed upon user login, providing a seamless and efficient user experience.

To customize or create new roles:

If it is similar to a standard role:

  1. Click on an existing role to view its permissions, you will find "(copy)" added next to standard role name
  2. Make the necessary adjustments
  3. Save the new role
  4. You will find it in the company roles.

Creating New Roles

  1. Click Add to create a new role.
  2. Name your role
  3. Select the permissions you want to assign.
  4. Save the role once finished.
  5. You will find it in the company roles.

Types of Permission

Within Garment IO, permission types allow you to assign different levels of access to specific actions and pages within the system. Here are the available permission types:

  • View: Granting this permission enables users to view specific pages or reports.
  • View List: Granting this permission allows users to view the contents of each item in a list, providing comprehensive insights into the data.
  • Add: Granting this permission empowers users to add new items to lists or records within the system.
  • Edit: Granting this permission enables users to modify existing items or records.
  • Delete: Granting this permission allows users to remove items or records from the system.

These permissions can be assigned to responsible users for various pages and actions within the system, ensuring a granular level of control and data security.

Once you have created the necessary roles and assigned appropriate permissions, you can proceed to add users to your Garment IO account. Initially, the Garment IO support team will create the initial users for your factory. However, as the system administrator or a user with the permission to create new users and roles, you will have the autonomy to add and manage users as needed.

By carefully crafting user roles and assigning relevant permissions, you can ensure that each user within your factory has the appropriate access and functionality to fulfill their responsibilities effectively. This not only enhances data security but also streamlines workflow processes, promoting a seamless and productive environment within Garment IO.
