Packing Module – Introducing Workstations

Packing Module – Introducing Workstations

Overview

We are excited to announce the Packing Module, a major step toward enabling factories to track packing performance within the GarmentIO Production System.

In this phase, factories can now:

Track the number of boxes packed per production order.

Identify which users (packers) completed the packing.

Step 1: Introducing Workstations

To support packing operations, we’re standardizing the concept of “stations” into a more flexible term: Workstations.

Workstations will represent physical or functional areas in the factory — such as packingquality, or finishing processes — and will allow for better organization, tracking, and access control.

When the Packing Module is enabled for your factory, you’ll notice a new menu item under:

Production Configuration → Workstation Types

If you previously had access to the Machine Types page, you will automatically have access to this new page.

Step 2: Adding Workstation Types

In the Workstation Types page, you can define each type of workstation by clicking Add and completing the following fields:

"Name – e.g., "Packing Station .

Cost per Minute – calculated the same way as average cost/minute in machine types .

Assigned Actions – define what actions this workstation performs .

Currently, the only available action is Packing, but upcoming releases will introduce more actions such as:

Quality Inspection .

Finalizing Missing Processes .

Merging or Splitting Batches .

and more

Creating workstation types ensures that your production processes remain organized and scalable .

Step 3: Adding Workstations

Once workstation types are set up, you can now define the actual workstation
Navigate to:

Production Configuration → Workstation Management

Here, you can:

  • Add a Workstation Name and Number

  • Define its Location and Section

  • Assign its Workstation Type (which automatically links the associated actions)

Step 4: Assigning Workstation Users

To maintain control and accountability, you can limit access to specific users.

You can assign which users are authorized to operate each workstation.
Only assigned users will be able to perform actions (like packing) on that workstation.
