Packing Module – Introducing Packing Rules

Packing Module – Introducing Packing Rules

Overview

After setting up workstations for packing, the next step in the Packing Module is to define Packing Rules for each Production Order.

This feature ensures that every packer follows the client’s specific packing requirements, eliminating confusion and improving packing consistency across orders.

Most factories already have predefined packing instructions from their clients — now they can record and manage these rules directly inside the system.

Step 1: Opening the Packing Rules Page

To add packing rules for an order:

  1. Go to the Production Orders page.

  2. Right-click on the desired Order.

  3. Select “Production Order Packing.”

This will open the Packing Rules page for that specific order.

If it’s the first time adding packing rules for this order, the page will appear empty — showing “No Assortments.”
You’ll need to add the assortments to begin defining your packing rules.

Step 2: Understanding Assortments

An Assortment represents the packing rule set for a production order.
Each order can have multiple assortments — for example, one order might have separate assortments for:

  • Different size ratios, or

  • Different color combinations

To create a new assortment, click Add Assortment.

Step 3: Adding an Assortment

When adding a new assortment, you’ll need to fill in the following fields:

  • Prefix – The assortment code (used as part of the box number)

  • Title – The name that appears on the box sticker

  • Starts From Number – Define the starting box number (e.g., restart from 1 or continue from a previous sequence)

  • Average Net Weight of Piece (grams) – Average weight of one garment piece

  • Average Weight of Empty Box (grams) – Average weight of the empty box

  • Assortment Type – Choose between:

    • Defined – When the client provides clear packing ratios by size and color

    • Undefined – When packing rules are not predetermined; the packer will define color and size details during actual packing on the tablet

If you select Defined, you can immediately enter the color-size matrix quantities for each variation.

If you select Undefined, you can immediately enter the box quantity but not the details inside.

Step 4: Generating Boxes

After setting the color-size matrix, you have two options:

  1. Generate Boxes Now – Enter the number of boxes required for that assortment and generate them immediately.

  2. Save as Draft – Save the assortment setup and generate boxes later, closer to the packing stage.

Step 5: Viewing and Managing Assortments

Once an assortment is added, the system will display:

  • Number of pieces planned vs. required

  • Detailed breakdown per color and size

Expanding an assortment will show its color-size matrix and total planned quantities.

You can edit or delete any assortment as long as no boxes inside it have been packed.
If any box is already packed, you must first delete or unfill that box before deleting the assortment.

Multiple assortments can be added per order.

Step 6: Managing Boxes

Inside the Boxes tab, you’ll find all boxes generated for that order with their current status.
Each box can be in one of the following states:

 Status
 Meaning
 Empty
The box is created but no pieces are added yet.
 Partially Open
Some pieces are added, but the box is still open and can accept more   pieces.
 Partially Closed
The box was closed with fewer pieces than planned.
 Filled
The box is fully packed with all planned pieces and closed.

You can also:

  • Delete a box

  • Unfill a box (move its contents back to the “Ready to Pack” container)
