Flexible Scanning Options per Style on Machines

Flexible Scanning Options per Style on Machines

We’re excited to introduce a new feature that gives you more flexibility when scanning RFID cards for processes. This update allows supervisors to define whether workers should scan all assigned processes at once, or scan them in smaller groups—depending on the style and the nature of the processes.

Why This Matters

In some cases, workers prefer to scan each process individually, especially for long processes, to ensure tracking accuracy.
But for short processes, individual scanning can waste time. That’s why it’s more efficient to scan all processes at once in those scenarios.

Now, you can configure the scanning method per style to match your factory’s needs.

Real-Life Example: Breaking Down the Couch Furnishing Process

To illustrate the value of this feature, let’s take a practical example from the production floor:

Furnishing a couch is a lengthy and detailed task, typically completed by a single worker. In many cases, it can take more than one day to finish.

If this task is set up as one single process, the worker would only scan their RFID card once—meaning all the time spent would be lumped together under one process. This limits visibility, tracking accuracy, and makes performance analysis harder.

With the new update in Garment IO, you can now split complex operations like this into smaller, sequential processes that better match how the work is actually done. For example:

  • Furnishing the Left Arm

  • Furnishing the Right Arm

  • Furnishing the Back

  • Furnishing the Seating Area

This allows the same worker to scan their RFID at each stage, even across multiple days, ensuring each part of the process is tracked individually.

The result?
✔️ More accurate time tracking
✔️ Better visibility into progress
✔️ Smarter performance and productivity insights

What’s New?

  • You can now choose, for each style, whether to:

    • Scan all assigned processes in one scan (default behavior)

    • Scan assigned processes in groups (customized based on group size)

  • You can also define the number of processes per scan, giving full control over how scanning is handled.

Important: The order of assigned processes matters.
If a style has 4 processes and you set 2 processes per scan:

  • The first scan will activate the first two processes.

  • The second scan will activate the remaining two.
So make sure to assign the processes in the desired sequence.

How to Use It

  1. Go to the Machines Page in the Supervision Module.

  2. When assigning processes to machines, you will see a toggle button to choose between:

    • “Scan All Together” (default)

    • “Scan in Groups”

  3. If you choose Scan in Groups, an additional option will appear to set the number of processes per scan.

  4. Once configured, workers will scan the RFID card, and the system will activate the correct group of processes according to your setup.
