How to add style category and standard processes?
Before starting production, it is essential for a factory to define the style categories they work on. Style categories represent different types of garments, such as bottoms, dresses, or other style categories, which share similar standard processes. This chapter will guide you through the process of adding style categories and configuring their settings within the GARMENT IO system.
In order to understand more about style categories and how are they different from styles, check this
articleAccessing Style Categories:
To add style categories, follow these steps:
Go to Industrial Engineering > Style Categories.
list of all existing style categories will appear with display options (cards or list).
- Click the "+ Add Style Category" button in the top right corner to create a new style category.
Adding a Style Category:
When adding a style category, you need to provide specific information. Follow these instructions:
Insert the name and code of the style category.
- Once you enter the category name, an image will be automatically generated for the style using AI ,This image reflects the type of garment and the basic characteristics of the style and You can regenerate the image from your device if you want to update or change it
- Enter the category prefix (a unique code for quick identification)
- Click on "Create" to add the style category.
After creating the style category, you can proceed to insert the standard processes associated with it. Standard processes can be categorized into process types to streamline the organization. For example, you can start by adding the standard processes for the front side of t-shirts and group them together in one process type "Front".
Adding process type:
Click on "Add Process Type" and provide a name and prefix for the process type.
You can add multiple process types as needed.
Adding Standard Processes
Under each process type, you can insert standard processes by following these steps:
Enter the standard process name in the primary language specified in the factory settings.
- Optionally, you can add a secondary language name if desired. This secondary language is shown for users that have secondary language as their main language.
- Specify the operation code
- The machine type associated with this operation
- The difficulty level
- Set the operation time in minutes, minutes and seconds, CMN, or target per hour
- Set the time basis (indicating whether the standard operation runs per piece for sewing, or per carton for packing phases)
- You can specify whether the operation operates as a team, such as spreading or finishing operations
Choosing to add target per hours or estimated production time
You have the option to display the target time per hour in either minutes and seconds or simply in minutes by selecting your preferred format from the dropdown menu located above the table. You can check this
article to know how to know the SAM for a standard process
The fee for a standard process is calculated by multiplying the estimated processing time in minutes by the cost per minute per machine, which is defined in the machine type page and you can check this article for more detailsAdding more than one machine type to a standard process
You can add another machine type to the same standard process if it can be performed on multiple machine types.
To assign a machine type to a standard process, follow these steps:
- Perform a right-click on the standard process where a machine type needs to be associated.
- Select "Add machine type to the process" from the context menu.
- A new table will appear, providing additional details. From this table, select the desired machine type from the list of available machine types.
- Determine the difficulty level and set the Standard Allowed Minutes (SAM) time.
- Once these selections are made, the system will automatically compute the fee based on the chosen machine type.
Having different machine types associated with the standard process have an effect on employee's effciiency and you can check this article for further information
Copying Standard Process to send it to another style category
To replicate standard processes to a different style category that requires the same standard processes, thus avoiding the need to enter them manually once more, follow these steps:
- Verify which processes are necessary within the process type. Just check them in the table.
- Click on 'copy processes'.
- Select the target style category you want to copy to as well as the specific process type desired.
Changing Standard Process time
Changing the standard operation time will update efficiencies for the selected period, up to a maximum of one previous month, regardless of whether the production order has been completed or not.
The system recalculates efficiencies based on all operations performed during the selected period and applies the new standard time. However, the cost and duration details for operations prior to the adjustment period will not be modified.
Additional Features:
- You can change the target per hour to be displayed in minutes and seconds, minutes only, or CMN.
- Users can select and copy standard operations to a different style category or operation type. They can also move operations to another operation type within the same style category. Removing an operation will delete all production records associated with that operation for active orders.
- You can add another machine type to the same standard operation if it can be performed on multiple machine types.
- The order of standard operations can be changed, which helps in report display and when adding standard operations to styles later.
- Operation groups can be created, allowing you to group specific operations together, simplifying operation selection when adding them to styles.
- As with other pages, you can edit and delete style categories. However, you cannot delete a style category that is currently in use.
