Add Tags and Group Layers to Your Batches

Add Tags and Group Layers to Your Batches

We’re excited to introduce a powerful new feature that allows you to organize batches in your factory by assigning tags and grouping them into multiple layers. Whether you want to create bundles, master batches, or simply categorize your batches for better tracking—the system now gives you full flexibility to do so.

Create Custom Batch Group Types

To get started, go to the "Batch Group Types" page inside the Industrial Engineering module.

There, you can:

  • Create new batch group types with any name you prefer (e.g., "Bundle", "Super Batch", "Pallet").

  • Assign a prefix (unique code) to each type, which helps in identifying groups through RFID cards attached to batches.

  • Edit the name or prefix at any time, but note that:

❗ You cannot delete any batch group type that is already in use in the system.

🛠 By default, the system includes one batch group type called "Batch Group".

Merging Batches into Groups

Once you’ve created your batch group types and generated batches:

  • Select the batches you want to group.

  • Click “Merge” and the system will prompt you to choose the type of group you'd like to merge them into.

  • After merging, a new batch group is created and labeled according to the group type you selected.

⚠ Note: A batch cannot be merged twice under the same group type.

Filtering and Printing

  • You can filter batch groups by group type, making it easy to view specific layers of your batch hierarchy.

  • You can also select multiple batch groups and print them.

    • The printout will display the group type prefix and number, making it clear what kind of group each batch belongs to.

Real-Life Scenario: Multi-Level Batch Tracking

Let’s say you want to track each piece individually on your production floor.
Here’s how you can use this feature in practice:

  1. Create batches of quantity 1 – treat each batch as a single piece.

  2. Merge these small batches into “Bundles” – average of 20 pieces per group.

  3. Merge the bundles into larger “Batch Groups” – average of 80 pieces per group.

With this approach, you create three tracking layers:

  • Piece → Bundle → Batch Group

And of course, you can go further and create as many layers as needed for your production workflow or future traceability.

Benefits

✔️ Customizable batch organization
✔️ Improved traceability
✔️ RFID-compatible tagging
✔️ Supports multiple grouping layers
